Надо было до 44 понижать, там явно обычный CD. И лишние 8 бит как обычно никакой инфы не несут) Разводят людей на бабки.

Согласен. Я долго думал о том, понижать до 48 кГц или до 44.1 кГц. Так как у некоторых треков отдельные участки превышают 22 кГц, я предположил, что однажды кто-то обязательно попросит перезалить альбом именно с 48 кГц.

Насчёт лишних 8 бит тоже согласен и уже писал об этом здесь. Нужно будет всё-таки описать это в отдельной статье с видео примерами.

@Shadow @UnWize What do you mean? Is this the CD inflated to 24bit 96kHz? Meaning fake? I know some publishers do this, probably to be able to charge more. But, I mean, did you listen to both CD version and 24/96 and compare? Also, did you compare 24/96 to 24/48 by ear? Usually, with real high resolution, the diffrences are very easy to hear, for a trained ear. There is a huge difference between the same material on CD and true 24/88-96-192. There should be a slight difference between 48kHz and true 96kHz as well. Most of these differences can be heard by ear. If it's fake high-rez then there's no point, a CD would be just as good, or even better.

Now, to finish my thought, I don't have a CD version to compare. But listening to this, it's hard to tell, the soundspace seems a bit congested, not really what you could expect from 24/48 master. I would need a CD version to compare by ear. It could be an inflated CD.

BTW, it's always better to downsample to 48kHz from 96kHz than to 44kHz (less noise), so you did well.

I love Elmer Bernstein, though. I do have his soundtrack from Edward Norton's movie Keeping The Faith on CD, you don't have it here. I mean, I'm still waiting for my account to be upgraded to VIP... Can you help? Is this comment significant enough?

joneastaway, I have not seen an identical edition on the CD, so there is nothing to compare with.
Have I compared 24/96 to 24/48 by ear(?) - there is no reason to compare, because I did my own test according to this instruction and in various musical compositions I could hardly hear the cutoff frequency even at 16 kHz (32 kHz on 2 channels). People, who disagree with the fact, that human hearing is limited (and no ear training will help) - are afraid to admit to themselve, that there really is no difference, or they hear the difference of some sound transformations by stealthy auto-enhancers. To work with sound at the studio level, of course, you need material better, than Audio CD, but not for listening.

? If you want to listen to what you can hear at different frequency cuts, tune your hardware to maximum sample rate and bit depth, then do this test in "Adobe Audition". Then do the same test, but cut from top and find your limit:
